The sounds of sneezing, sniffling and snorting arrive along with the trees, flowers and grass of these otherwise pleasant months. Allergy season is upon us!

Seasonal allergies peak in the springtime, when pollen counts are highest. Autumn is another time of year when allergy symptoms spike. The first step in controlling seasonal allergies – commonly called hay fever—is to recognize the symptoms. The hallmarks are sneezing, itchy eyes, stuffy nose with clear drainage, and a tickle cough. The way to tell the difference between a cold (viral upper respiratory infection) and allergies is that with a cold one may have a fever, thicker nasal drainage, and sometimes body aches.
