Dr. Michael Smith is board-certified in Pediatrics, Dermatology and the sub-specialty of Pediatric Dermatology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is also a member of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology and has served on the executive board. He has been practicing dermatology for 25 years. Dr. Smith received his undergraduate degree in biology from Davidson College. He received his Master of Science degree in biology and his medical degree from East Carolina University. He then completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at Bowman Gray/Wake Forest University Medical Center, followed by residency in dermatology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. He joined the faculty of East Carolina University Medical School in 1989 and was there for 5 years before moving to Nashville to join the faculty of Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. When not at work he and his wife enjoy travelling and spending time with their daughter and her husband and two children.
