Dr. Blanco is a graduate from the University of Florida, where he earned dual undergraduate degrees in both Integrative Biology and Business Management. He attended medical school at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo, NY. While in medical school, he earned multiple awards for his commitment to the elimination of healthcare disparities, outstanding academic achievement, leadership activities and community involvement.
He then completed his internal medicine residency training at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. While in residency, he received numerous Resident Teaching Awards as well as the Dr. Arnold L. Widen Award for dedication to community service. He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He has multiple publications in scientific journals and was awarded the AGA Certificate of Recognition for Scientific Accomplishment as an Early Career Investigator.
Dr. Blanco has a special interest in esophageal disease, motility disorders and inflammatory bowel disease. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
In his spare time, Dr. Blanco enjoys exploring Nashville’s beautiful parks, hiking, kayaking and biking with his wife and 3 children. He is also fluent in both English and Spanish.
