Dr. Anderson is a native of Nashville, TN and is a third generation physician. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech, where he played football for four years and graduated with honors. He received a Justin Potter scholarship from Vanderbilt School of Medicine and received his M.D. degree in 1973. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt, and then served for two years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, attaining the rank of Major and receiving the Army Commendation Medal. Following his return to Nashville he completed a Chief Residency in Internal Medicine in the Vanderbilt program at St. Thomas Hospital. He then joined his father in his Internal Medicine practice. Dr. Anderson was a co-founder of Heritage Medical Associates in 1993. He is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians and is a member of the American College of Preventive Medicine. He has served on the board of Senior Citizens, Inc. (now Fifty Forward). He and his wife Bev have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. His practice has been affiliated with MDVIP since 2008, resulting in a smaller practice focusing on personalized care and prevention.
