About

Dr. Smithson joined Heritage Medical Associates in the summer of 2006. He received his undergraduate degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Richmond. Afterwards, he served on the faculty of Brentwood Academy for two years. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville and completed the internal medicine internship and residency program through the University of Tennessee at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

Dr. Smithson is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the Nashville Academy of Medicine, and is an Affiliated Assistant Professor of Clinical Medical Education at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. His Internal Medicine practice is located at the Heritage Green Hills location. In addition to spending time with his family, Dr. Smithson enjoys golfing and traveling.
